What's up beautiful people! I hope you all are doing well. I don't know about you, but I love a good nature show, movie, or documentary. My wife and I have been watching Seven Worlds, One Planet on BBC America. The series is amazing, and it gives a lot of insight on nature that we haven't seen before in many other series like it.
Last week was a very reflective week for me, as I was in a state of gratefulness thinking about what I've been through in my life, and where I'm headed. So, as we're watching the South America edition, one of the stories caught my undivided attention. It introduced a mother Puma and her cubs in the Andes Mountains attempting to hunt guanacos in order to survive.
Now any of you that have watched any of these nature series, you know that there can be mixed emotions where you find yourself routing for the prey and sometimes the predator, depending on how they present the story. The mother Puma attempted to catch one of the guanacos so that she and her cubs could eat, but she failed at the first few attempts.
On one of the attempts the mother was severely injured by a guanaco as it escaped her clutch. Now weakened, and desperately needing to score a meal for the family, the mother continued to hunt. She was finally able to catch a guanaco, but she caught the guanaco in the territory of another male puma. This put her prize catch in danger, and her cubs were over a half mile away. Now tired after a tedious hunt, she had to figure out how to get the meal back to her cubs, and avoid the male puma.
What the narrator said next, inspired me...
[Narrator: "In her weakened state, she will need all her reserves of energy to drag it back to her territory. Only her determination to feed her young, keeps her going."] As I sat there and watched that mother puma drag the meal across rough terrain to her cubs, I became so inspired.
Like that mother puma, it is important that we remember our "Why"! When you find the reason you keep going when you don't feel like it... You've found your why. That mother puma had to go against all obstacles to feed her family. It really put things into perspective for me.
Now this is how a puma inspired me, but I encourage you to continue to figure out what your "Why" is. Word of advice: let your passion guide you. As always, remember that God loves you and so do I. Love Life, Live Love, Peace Together, Not Apart.
